A Set of Six Equestrian Paradises:
156, 255, 398,546, and two - 640 acre tracts
View Map
General Information:
With all these six tracts the lands border BLM on at least two, sometimes four, sides. National Forest lands are close as is the Rio Grande. There are tousands and thousands of acres of combined BLM and National Forest lands in the area in which these tracts sit. Other than one other 640 acre-tract, this is vitually the only private land in this part of Santa Fe County.
The Hoyt and Ortiz Lands - Santa Fe County, NM. Five tracts owned by the Hoyt Trusts and one tract owned by the Ortiz/La Luz LLC. These are historic lands dating back to homesteading, and pre-homesteading days.
The Hoyt Lands - see the map for matching numbers/locations.
1. Headquarters for the The Santa Fe Ranch - 546 acres with three homes, a huge shop, corrals, three wells and beyond all - tremendous views to at least six mountain ranges. Located between La Tierra and La Tierra Nueva and only six minutes to the famous Las Campanas Stone Bridge. Fully fenced with electic fencing and gated. $6,750,000
The Santa Fe Ranch is located in Section 36 on the Agua Fria Quad, T18N;R8E - MLS #201103466 - Located between La Tierra and Tierra Nueva, just to the east of Las Campanas (six minutes to the stone bridge) right at the start of Estrada Calabasas West, by the tennis courts in La Tierra.
2. 640 acres, already divided into 12 lots of horse heaven. Note: due to County Affordable Housing Rules, this would be next to impossible to do today with any economic sanity. Great views, fully fenced. Sangre and Jemez vistas and rolling hills and trees. $5,500 per acre, which is 640 acres for $3,520,000. this property has a well already and a road linking all the lots. Located off greatly, unbelievably, improved Buckman Road, about five miles beyond the gated entrance to La Tierra Nueva. About six miles from the Rio Grande. This 640 acres is all of Section 16. MLS #201104715 T18N;R8E on the Horcado Quad Map.
3. 160 acres, already divided into 3 lots. This is enchanting equestrian property, surrounded on four sides by BLM land. Great views of the Jemez, Los Alamos and White Rock lights at night, and Diablo Canyon. This is very nice rolling terrain with a good portion of flat land for horse facilities. Perimeter fenced. $5,000 per acre, which is $800,000 for the 160 acres. This is located off Buckman Road about six miles from the La Tierra Nueva gate house. Approximately 5 miles from the Rio Grande. 160 acres, a quarter section of Section 17. T18N;R8E on the Horcado Quad Map. MLS #201104713.
4. 398 acres of gorgeous equestrian land with multi-mountain views befitting its 'top of its own mini Continental Divide' location, looking down on the historic Jacona Grant. Very useable, gently rolling, land that is accessed via county, private, and BLM road access. This tract has rolling, to flattish, terrain that is quite pretty all times of year. $2,950 per acre, which is $1,174,000 for the 398 acres. For ease of use, and/or estate planning, this land is split into several tracts. Follow Estrada Calabasa which turns into County 81 - The 'Horcado Ranch Road.' The 398 acres is of a partial section, which is what Section 2 is, a partial section. T18N;R8E on the Horcado Quad Map. Due to allowing for the curvature of the earth, and for previously existing boundaries (here, where Section 2 hits the Jacona Grant), not all sections are 640 acres, which is what is known as a 'full' section. So seemingly idiotically, you can have 'all' of a section, but it is not a 640 acre 'full' section. MLS #201104710
5. Located next to, or just off, the Rio Grande, where Buckman Road meets the river, this mostly flattish-to-rolling 255-acre equestrian tract has an old well and is fenced. This general area is benefitting from help from The Trust for Public Land, and efforts on behalf of the government, to someday, perhaps, have a park in place. this is the only public access to the river in Santa Fe County and is only a little ways down river from the famous Otowi Bridge. $5,500 per acre, which is $2,189,000. this land has wonderful canyon views above the river and some famous mesa land abutting it. This 255 acres by the Rio Grande is on the White Rock Quad. This land is the eastern portion of Section 36, T19N;R7E which is to the east of the Broad outline on the quad for the Caja del Rio Grant. It makes sense when you look at the quad. MLS #201104710.
The Ortiz/La Luz LLC Tract
6. This is a completely fenced full section of 640 equestrian acres (a full section is 640 acres and is a mile on all four sides). This has a well and a small cattle operation. A central ridge gracefully divides the land from East to West for privacy should you have two owners, and the views are great. There are many, many home-sites from which you may choose. Almost all the land is useable and very beautiful. This is accessed the same as #4 above: Estarda Calabasas/County 81/Horcado Ranch Road. This tract shares a one mile border with #2, above. You could have 1,280 acres of land with a purchase of both tracts. Price per acre is $5,500, which is $3,520,000 for the entire Section 15, of 640 acres. This is all of the full Section 15. T18N;R8E on the Horcado Quad Map. MLS #803362.
